Dr. Matthew Paldy, PhD, LP

NYS Licensed Psychoanalyst • Executive & Relational Specialist

My clinical work grew out of a lifelong curiosity about how people navigate complex emotions and high-stakes relationships. I trained extensively to bridge the gap between deep psychological insight and practical life—earning degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Stony Brook University, and the University of Rhode Island.

Following my academic studies, I completed six years of postdoctoral psychoanalytic training at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis (NPAP) and the Theodor Reik Clinical Center in Manhattan. This rigorous background allows me to provide therapy that goes beyond surface-level coping to address the root causes of distress.

The Intersection of Business & Psychology

Before entering full-time clinical practice, I earned a PhD in Business Administration focusing on Management and Organizational Behavior. My professional background includes software development and financial management for institutions such as Chase, CIBC Capital Markets, Dow Jones, and American Express.

I have taught leadership at the university level and developed the Critical Thinking Program for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. This unique dual-expertise allows me to speak the language of my clients—executives, entrepreneurs, and senior leaders—who manage the intense pressures of the NYC professional landscape.

Clinical Specializations

My Manhattan practice focuses on supporting accomplished individuals through three primary clinical areas:

  • NYC Executive Burnout Therapy: Supporting senior leaders and entrepreneurs through decision fatigue, performance pressure, and loss of professional meaning.
  • Grief & Loss Psychotherapy: Specialized support for navigating the death of a partner, friend, or parent, as well as the "unseen" grief of divorce or career loss.
  • Trauma & PTSD Recovery: Deep clinical work for professionals processing unresolved trauma and major life transitions.
